Jay believed that inexperienced homeowners needed protection and proper guidance to avoid painful construction and renovation nightmares. House Calls Project Management / Renovation Advisors acts as your professional construction advocate, offering knowledgeable “leverage” when dealing with designers and/or contractors on complex construction-related matters.

After graduating from UBC, Jay worked with the internationally known firm Bregman and Hamann Architects for over six years, where he became an Associate of the firm, as well as their Senior Contract Administrator, mainly for large commercial projects.  He then accepted a exceptional offer from CN Real Estate (now Canada Lands Corp.)  and moved into the real estate development field.  This position afforded him the opportunity to work closely on such landmark projects as the CN Tower redevelopment, the Roger’s Center (SkyDome), the SkyWalk and a series of unique projects related to the early development of the CN Railway Lands.  Following this, Jay managed Scotiabank‘s Caribbean portfolio of bank branches, lease deals and land acquisitions, completing almost 100 new or renovated branches across the region over a six year period.

Jay then accepted a senior role with Great West Life Realty Advisors, acting as the Manager of Construction Services at Commerce Court, Toronto.   In this pivotal role, Jay was responsible for a wide range of capital projects deemed necessary to preserve and enhance the value of this important real estate asset.  Works included historical restoration, resolution of base-building structural issues, and improvement to retail and tenant environments.   As Director of Development for Eastern Canada, Jay delivered a new 235,000 sf distribution centre for the Bombay Company, expansion to an existing industrial facility (52,000 sf) and several new big box warehouses (300,000 sf) in Mississauga.

Over the past few years, Jay worked with H&R Construction Management and Social Housing Services Corp., providing senior level project management construction expertise to deliver a range of projects including a new 20,000 sf private school, improvements to a senior’s residence in Markham, a 100-unit 12 storey affordable housing highrise for Toronto Community Housing Corporation, and special consulting within the social housing sector.  Jay was invited to lead the project team in the development and construction of an exciting and new 15,000 sf flagship prototype branch for ING DIRECT Canada.  The “Downtown Cafe” is located in a 3-storey historic building at the corner of Yonge and Shuter Streets in downtown Toronto.  Most recently, Jay was invited to manage an improvement to the Dominion Building at 1 Front Street West for the Federal government. He continues to service the needs of his residential client base throughout the GTA.
